How do I document water damage for an insurance claim? Photograph and video every affected room before moving things, keep damaged items until your adjuster says otherwise, save receipts, and write down when and how it started. A restoration contractor can add moisture readings, drying logs and a written repair scope. KADE Restoration provides that documentation and does the repairs; we don't decide coverage or negotiate claims. Free inspection: (949) 785-3508.

Steps that help any claim

  1. Stop the damage if you safely can (your policy likely expects it).
  2. Photograph everything.
  3. Call your insurer to open a claim and write down the claim number.
  4. Keep receipts for emergency costs and any hotel stay.
  5. Get a written scope before repairs begin.

What we provide

Photos, moisture readings, drying logs and a written scope in the format adjusters use, plus answers to your adjuster's questions about the work we do.

Choosing your contractor

In California you can generally choose who repairs your home. Your insurer may suggest a company; you can use them or another licensed contractor. Ask your insurer about any policy terms.

What we don't do

We're not public adjusters. We don't decide coverage, promise approval or negotiate your settlement. If you want help with the claim itself, ask about a licensed public adjuster or attorney.

Questions

Will insurance cover my water damage?

It depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden pipe bursts are often covered; long-term leaks, flood and some mold are often limited or excluded. Your policy and adjuster decide.

Should I start repairs before the adjuster comes?

Emergency steps to prevent more damage (stopping water, drying) are usually expected. Hold off on permanent repairs until you've talked with your insurer.

Can you meet my adjuster at the house?

Yes, we can be there to walk through the damage and our scope.

Is the inspection free?

Yes. Free inspections aren't available for properties being sold or about to be sold.
